Empowered by the section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act 1955 and West Bengal Kerosene Control Order, 1968 of the Government of West Bengal, the Directorate of Consumer Goods under Department of Food & Supplies regulates the distribution of Kerosene oil through the Public Distribution System through a network of Agents and Dealers.
The Director of Consumer Goods (DCG) is the licensing authority for Agents through Form A license in Form B to a person or a registered Co-operative Society or a registered Company or a partnership firm, who/which has/have executed an Agreement with an Oil Marketing Company, authorizing him/her/such registered co-operative society/company/partnership firm to carry on trade in Kerosene as such Agent under PDS system in West Bengal.
The Director of Consumer Goods (DCG) in case of Kolkata and Bidhannagar or the District Magistrate in the districts is the licensing authority for the Dealers in Form E to a person eligible to carry on trade in Kerosene as S.K. Oil Dealer after receiving application in Form D from him/her and license fee as mentioned below, provided that no license shall be granted without the approval of the State Government.
The licenses are renewed every year for both the Agents and the Dealers.
